RAF Women’s Rugby

raf-womens-rugbyAs supporters of RAF Women’s Rugby, on Friday 2nd March SecureCloud+ were honoured to be invited to the inaugural ‘Women’s Development Championship’ weekend at RAF Halton. The primary goal was to celebrate the upward progression of Women’s Rugby in the RAF and to demonstrate the benefits, rewards and sheer enjoyment that rugby can offer.

The weekend started with an energetic display of skills and drills on pitch - all highlighting what a great team ethos the women have. The squads Awards Dinner, which we were privileged to be part of, was then hosted in the impressive Halton House. All the women were very enthusiastic about being part of the team especially Senior Aircraftwoman Sian William, who made history earlier this year as she became Wales’s first professional women’s rugby player. Sian is living testament that women can perform in sport at the highest level within the RAF.

The weekend concluded with a trip to the sacred grounds of Twickenham to watch the Double Header with the squad. We were delighted to be part of the women’s weekend, to get to know the individual players better and gain a real sense of their personal long-term goals on and off pitch. We are now eagerly awaiting their first game later this month and wish them luck – not sure if they will need it though!
