Ellie Averill joined SecureCloud+ in February 2019 as an HR apprentice. Her only previous work experience was working as a café assistant at Lockey Farm, but she wanted to start a career in HR. Despite a few offers, Ellie chose SC+, partly because of the better pay and partly because she was surprised to have met the CEO for her second interview. Peter takes an active interest in all recruitment to ensure harmony between the holistic company vision and office culture. A company harmony demonstrated by our Investors in People Silver award, which Ellie assisted in achieving during April 2021.
Now, Ellie is a mentor to three apprentices with the perfect opportunity to offer relatable advice to the next generation both academically and with pastoral care. Her experience taking the course, combined with office familiarity at SC+ can be passed on to enable these apprentices the best chance at success. Of course, Ellie benefits too from the relationship, learning management and leadership skills from an early stage in her career. From Ellie herself - "Mentoring and coaching these apprentices is teaching me a lot and helping my future aspirations to be a manager. I'm really proud of their development and can see them going far in this company and their careers."
Less than four years after leaving school with three A-Levels and no career aspirations, Ellie is studying her level 5 CIPD qualification, training a new generation of apprentices and a vital part of SecureCloud+. Her story shows how the SC+ apprenticeship programme is mutually beneficial for students and the company. Ellie is now a qualified HR professional at only 21-years-old and SecureCloud+ gain an endlessly lively influence.
